
Radio Communication ( Surfcom ) on the
Far North Coast provide a vital link to all
lifesaving services, Operations Support, and
other Emergency Services. Far North
Coast Surfcom liaise, control and coordinate
all communications in the Surf Life Saving radio
network, and also consist of -
Multiple Radio Networks ( with links to SLSQ
Gold Coast Surfcom ) ;
Surf Safety Camera Surveillance with Remote
Monitoring ;
Incident Reporting Systems.

Far North Coast Surfcom has rolled out a
complex network of surveillance cameras from
Yamba to Tweed Heads. They are linked into
SurfCom where skilled operators survey low
visitation areas with high hazard potential away
from patrolled areas.
The primary role of the surf safety cameras is
to survey and monitor conditions, activities and
beach visitations on the selected locations. The
cameras are also able to identify a body
anywhere in the surf up to 200 meters out to sea
as part of missing persons searches. The
secondary role of the surf safety cameras is to
assist with searches for missing persons on
land, and to assist with incidents and
activities as requested by external agencies (
Local Council and other emergency services ).
The cameras also provide regular information to
local media and tourist groups regarding surf,
weather and beach conditions.
Surf Safety Camera's provide a number of
operational support functions, which including the
following :
To survey and monitor conditions, activities and

requested by external agencies ( Local Council &
